Winter is Coming by catch---22 Winter is Coming by catch---22
A grey November morning at an old homestead in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains... roughly translated from the Choctaw language as the mountains of the large bison.

on a side-note; This is the land in the book True Grit. This is probably about half way between Fort Smith and McAlester's store... lol, a couple of hard days ride in either direction.

Fantastic image! Love the grittiness, you've captured here with just a hint of that softness your images always contain. Great melding of emotions and styles. :)

Nice composition, Love the B/W and grey tones in this shot,
Looks like this place has history....

intrigued that you mentioned the language of the Choctaw....
is this your roots? or just the area they were from.
I did a video documentary of Native Indians once,
was going to show you, but can't find it in my Youtubes though

Anyway nice capture, :)

thank you very much Donna.

I was raised in this area but am not choctaw. the Choctaw Nation was a tribe of farmers who lived in what is now the southeastern U.S. until the federal government forcibly removed most tribal members in 1830 to Southeastern Oklahoma in what became known as the “Trail of Tears.” this is in that area.

well I wish you'd found it. :)

“Trail of Tears.” Yes very sad, It was a few years ago I made it, long story but
I am wondering now whether I deleted it off YT for lack of views
and kept the file on my desk top, which shut down on me. I still have
the old hard drive, maybe I will retrieve it one day...:)

Your welcome, its nice to see where your from its a beautiful place

Great comp, I especially like the positions you selected of everything, and how the b&w excellently emphasizes the oldness. It's a beautiful photo in general. I wonder what the home looked like when it was new, and who lived there, were their flowers and kitchen gardens, fields of crops, tractors or plow horses, etc.?
