A Hans Butzer interpretation of Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.
But this one has no flesh, bone or beak. It is made of steel, rises 197 feet above the ground, weighs 105 tons and permanently perches atop the SkyDance Bridge, a 390-foot-long, 20-foot-wide pedestrian bridge that spans the new Interstate 40 near Robinson Avenue. The bridge is a component of Oklahoma City’s Core to Shore redevelopment of 750 acres of underutilized land between the core of downtown and the shore of the Oklahoma River.
