Sky Dancer by catch---22 Sky Dancer by catch---22
A Hans Butzer interpretation of Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.

But this one has no flesh, bone or beak. It is made of steel, rises 197 feet above the ground, weighs 105 tons and permanently perches atop the SkyDance Bridge, a 390-foot-long, 20-foot-wide pedestrian bridge that spans the new Interstate 40 near Robinson Avenue. The bridge is a component of Oklahoma City’s Core to Shore redevelopment of 750 acres of underutilized land between the core of downtown and the shore of the Oklahoma River.

I love it.

I think so... both functional and aesthetically pleasant. of course I suppose that is in the eye of the beholder... but I was proud to see it go up.

... and nope. They are there for texture I suppose. they are also back lit at night and almost seem a bit translucent then. I have to try it after dark some time.
