Follow The Sun by catch---22 Follow The Sun by catch---22
did you ever just go... you know, pick a direction and just go and go and go until you can't go any more? I did this day. I faced west and followed the sun. when I caught up with it I found myself 100 or so miles deep into the open prairie of the Great Plains. with each mile traveled it becomes more evident that it is the land that rules here... the supercilious becomes the superfluous. the dialogue is one of the the wind, the sun, and the song of the cicada rather than one of words.

this was much welcome. there's been too many words of late and I suspect I've about run out.

...and now I shall muster a few more and try and catch up on comments and deviations in my message center.

:peace:

----------

Follow, follow the sun
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done.

Breathe, breathe in the air
Set your intentions
Dream with care.

Tomorrow's a new day for everyone
A brand new moon and brand new sun.

So follow, follow the sun
The direction of the birds
The direction of love.

Breathe, breathe in the air
Cherish this moment
Cherish this breath.

Tomorrow's a new day day for everyone
A brand new moon, brand new sun.

When you feel life coming down on you like a heavy weight
When you feel this crazy society adding to the strain
Take a stroll to the nearest water's edge, remember your place.
Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came.

So which way is the wind blowing?
What does your heart say?

So follow, follow the sun
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done...

Very cool shot! A question though, how did you manage to capture the sun in such sharp definition? I never seem to quite be able to do that? Is it because its right on the horizon?

thank you Matt... hmmm I think I actually had the focus point set on it and the low light with haze let it focus well :)

Gotcha, although I was more referring to the exposure. Usually when I shoot straight into the sun, I end up with a large undefined area of overexposed highlights around the sun.

oh I hate when I get those..looking at my settings at 1/2 second I still think the haze/filtered light helped me out. their affect was to make the light very low contrast.

Was a time I had that kind of freedom to do what you've done, Dennis. It's a little more restrictive nowadays so I can only do this in the deep winter so I go south when the urge hits me--being from the northern plains it leaves about 2,000 miles of southward wandering before hitting the Gulf. I've made that trip before and felt very much the same as you--the plains are alive and is speaking all the time if I just stop talking myself and listen instead, I find the solitude restorative...like a band-aid for my soul.

I'm glad you took the journey and listened to the wind, the sun and the song of the cicada. Should you find your cares along the way back, just leave them where they fell.

Wonderful image and thoughts, my friend

That's a damn fine idea. One I think about doing frequently.:) But not stopping. When I get to the end in one direction, turn and go again, never stopping.
This is a beautiful ending point. :)
Good luck with catching up;)
